Advertising policy

Last updated 11 September 2026.

People come to Divergent Products when something is hard. Advertising here has to respect that. This policy is part of every booking, and we may refuse any ad without giving a reason.

How ads are labelled

Every paid placement is labelled by us, in text, not inside the advertiser's image.

Where Label
Shelf partner, leaderboard, box ad "Advertisement", above the unit
Native card in the product grid "Ad", top left of the card
Featured product in a shelf partner's space "Ad"
Newsletter sponsor block "Advertisement"; "Ad" in the subject line if the whole email is sponsored
A guide a brand paid for and helped shape "Advertisement feature", on the page and everywhere it is promoted

Paid products never appear among the picks, and paying never changes how a product is described.

What we will not advertise

  1. Anything claiming to treat, cure or help recovery from ADHD, autism, dyslexia or any condition, or implying it reduces symptoms, unless it is a registered medical device with the evidence held.
  2. Supplements, nootropics and "focus" or "calm" blends.
  3. Private diagnosis and assessment clinics, prescribing services and prescription-only medicines.
  4. Online therapy platforms, and coaching that presents itself as clinical.
  5. Contested behavioural interventions, including ABA and "normalisation" programmes.
  6. Gambling, betting, lotteries and loot boxes.
  7. Payday and high-cost credit, buy now pay later, debt solutions, credit repair, and any credit or investment product.
  8. Crypto, trading, "passive income", multi-level marketing and get-rich-quick schemes.
  9. Weight-loss medicines, alcohol, vapes and nicotine.
  10. Brain-training or "IQ" products with cognitive claims, and wearables claiming health outcomes.
  11. Political and campaigning ads, dating and adult content.
  12. Anything using fear, shame or "fix yourself" framing about being neurodivergent.

Creative rules

  1. Static images only. No flashing, blinking, strobing, animation or video. This is stricter than the WCAG 2.2 accessibility standard, which allows up to three flashes a second.
  2. No sound, no autoplay, no motion.
  3. No pop-ups, overlays, expanding or sticky ads, and nothing that opens a new window by itself.
  4. No countdowns, timers, "only 3 left" or false urgency. Time pressure lands hardest on the people this site is for, and it is a misleading practice under UK consumer law.
  5. Plain and literal. One message. Features, not outcomes for a condition. Text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1, real alt text, and fixed sizes so the page never jumps. At most one ad on screen at a time.

How booking works

Every ad is approved before it runs, and evidence for any claim is needed before booking. There is one sponsor per shelf and one sponsor per email. Sponsors get a monthly report of views and clicks, counted by us without third-party tracking.

Formats, sizes and placements are on the shop's advertising section. Rates and bookings open with the launch.
